A lot of people hold the belief that people who own Harley Davidson motorcycles are tough, tattoo-laden, testosterone-filled men who guzzle hard liquor and wind up in bar room brawls. Even though this profile makes for a good Hollywood movie, the vast majority of Harley Davidson riders are easygoing, sociable people who contribute to society.

An additional female innovator was Linda Dugeau, co-founder of the Motor Maids, Inc. Linda started riding a Harley-davidson motorcycle in 1932. She traveled around the US and accounts of her journeys were printed in Motorcyclist magazine. In 1938, Dugeau started establishing a network of female motorcyclists, which officially became known as The Motor Maids. The group was chartered with the American Motorcyclist Association in 1941, meaning that it is the oldest motorbike group for females in North America.
Females of all ages and lifestyles are showing an interest in motorcycles and the way of life they offer. Not only are more women riding street bikes, they are also taking part in motorcycle racing. Female stars, such as pop singer, Pink and model, Niki Taylor, are entering the driver's seat of Harleys and suggesting other girls to do the same.
Bike riding is also becoming a popular family hobby. Safety equipment is available to keep children safe while riding, including tether straps, helmets, jackets, chaps, and gloves. Touring bikes and cruisers simplify the task of taking the kids on a weekend camping or road trip.
Loads of members of the armed forces are avid Harley riders. They enjoy the feeling they have when they hit the road and hook up with fellow Harley devotees at sponsored events or charity rides. Harley Davidson supports numerous rides for U.S. troops and Veterans' charities.
A normal trait of individuals who own Harley-davidson motorbikes is a giving disposition. Harley owners often head out on on charity rides to help charitable associations or to provide for the needs of someone in their resident community.
Harley riders have raised large amounts of money in their charitable activities and have donated to cancer research, Alzheimer's research, Autism and loads of other praiseworthy causes.
There's a fantastic amount of camaraderie and friendship amongst Harley riders. They are a group of passionate people who love the thrill of adventure. One thing is for sure... there is no other activity that unites such a varied group of people from all walks of life and ages.
